The National Trust sites which have reopened - and how to book your visit

The National Trust has reopened several gardens and countryside sites in the North East, but it may be a while before visitors can enter any of its stately homes and historic properties.

Visitors are welcome to more than 200 coast and countryside car parks around the country, but all houses remain closed.

However, people can visit selected gardens and outside grounds of National Trust properties, including Cragside, Gibside and Wallington, along with stretches of coast and countrside managed by the Trust, including the Durham Coast and Embleton and Newton Links in Northumberland.

Those visiting most properties will have to book in advance. Slots become available to book every Friday for the following week and visitors must bring either a print out of their ticket or have a copy on their phone.

Those more than 10 minutes late for their slot may be turned away. Entry and parking is free for members.
