Police can't find any family or next of kin for a man found dead in Swansea city centre

A man found dead in Swansea city centre has been named as Paul John Donaldson.

But the authorities have been unable to find any family or next of kin for the 54-year-old, an inquest into his death, held at Swansea Civic Centre, heard.

Mr Donaldson's body was discovered in a lane behind 201-202 Oxford Street on Saturday, May 4.

The inquest heard he was found by a passerby on the steps outside the back of the city centre property.

Police were called there at 8.40am and said at the time the death was not thought to be suspicious.

Mr Donaldson lived in Geiriol Road, Townhill ,

A post-mortem found evidence of drug taking and stated that Mr Donaldson's cause of death was heroin toxicity.

What is an inquest?

Assistant coroner Aled Gruffydd said: "He had a history of substance misuse but didn't seek any professional help for this.

"He would go to a pharmacy to collect his methadone script.

"He was an ex-drug user and was still drinking alcohol.

"His body was found by a passerby on May 4 and he was pronounced dead at the scene."

Mr Gruffydd recorded a conclusion of a drug-related death.
