I couldn’t wait to read this book, as I really love mystery stories. This is a brilliant mystery book.
The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow is Katherine Woodfine’s first book. The main character is a girl called Sophie Taylor she works in an amazing millinery hat department at a big shop called Sinclair’s in London. The mystery begins when valuables are stolen and Sophie is under suspicion! It is up to Sophie and her friends to solve the crime as quickly as possible.
The story is great and the book illustrations are as well. Each part of the book begins with a picture and description of a different hat. I love hats so I thought this was fantastic. I also love the creative, eye catching and appealing front cover!
I loved how the criminal is discovered at the very beginning of the story but can Sophie and her friends find out how to prove it!?
This book is great for aged 8 and upwards or anyone who loves mystery books.
I am really looking forward to the next book about Sophie Taylor and her friends called The Mystery of the Jewelled Moth. It comes out next year. How will I wait that long!?
