The museum in Animal Crossing has a nighttime secret — have you discovered it?

Animal Crossing fans have discovered a secret event that takes place inside the museum — but only at nighttime.

While New Horizons hasn't been out for very long, it's absurd this Easter egg hasn't been spotted sooner given how popular the game has been over lockdown.

As pointed out by Reddit user Missmarymax, inside the museum after sundown, beetles gather on the large tree to take part in what looks like a sort of brawl.

The video above shows the beetles congregating and locking horns, as they have a small fight, observed by other beetles on the large tree.

You can locate the large tree in the left-wing of the museum; simply head up the slope and you'll spot it.

Naturally, people on Reddit immediately started making references to the hit 1999 film Fight Club, starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter: "Goddamnit looks like you missed the #1 rule of Beetle Fight Club", reads the top comment on the thread.

Other people have claimed the feature isn't anything new — nor is it a 'hidden' feature.

That said, it's certainly the first time we've heard of it and we're definitely going to be checking the museum at night to witness the phenomenon firsthand.

We'd say Blathers is behind it, but we all know he has an aversion to bugs!
