The multimillion-dollar home secured in four days

48 Hickson Street, Merewether is for sale. Pictures supplied

A significant listing in Merewether's exclusive Hickson Street described by marketing agent Ben Robinson, of Robinson Property, as "one of the best properties I've seen in my 30 years of real estate", has been sold within four days on the market.

Mr Robinson listed the six-bedroom, four-bathroom residence with stunning views at 48 Hickson Street with a guide of $5.5 million to $6 million and reported plenty of local interest with six offers made before it exchanged on Tuesday. The sale price was not disclosed but the Newcastle Herald believes it was at the top of the guide, making it one of the highest sales for the beachside suburb.

"It has everything," Mr Robinson said. "It's on a huge block, has six bedrooms and potentially a seventh. One room is set up at the moment as a wine appreciation room. And then there's the view. You're the highest point of Hickson Street, and you get north and south back to Burwood, so it's very unique in where it's situated."

The tri-level home featured a top-level master suite with 270-degree city and coastal views.

Unique offering

Mike Flook, of Robinson Property, has listed a one of a kind property at 21 City Road in Adamstown Heights.

It was bought in 1965 by Dr Alan Hoyle and his wife Judith and they raised their seven children there. Needing more space, they built an impressive extension that has been both a labour of love and a treasured family room.

ONE OF A KIND: This Adamstown Heights property has been the treasured home of the Hoyle family for 56 years.

The Hoyles used their appreciation for Newcastle history and Australian architecture to create what has been affectionately known as "The Big Room".

The large family room at the rear of the home was constructed mainly from recycled materials sourced throughout the city, including convict bricks, sandstone blocks and church windows. The A frame of the extension came from the demolition of the Brown Street Congregational Church.

The property is set for auction on June 26 with a guide of $890,000. It is open Saturday at 2.15pm.

The large addition was both a labour of love and a treasured family space.
