The mullet is making a comeback, thanks to Stranger Things

The ‘80s - it was a time of legwarmers, big hair and great music... There’s no denying that we love to bring back old trends, from the Rubik’s cube to flared trousers.

And now, the mullet has started inching its way back into trend, thanks to Stranger Things. Zavvi, recently conducted a study that reveals which ’80s fashion trends have made a reappearance over the last year, and the results are in!

The team analysed Google searches for ’80s fashion items and stacked them against each other to determine the world’s favourite style. Claiming their spot in fifth place is the moustache. Three decades later, this facial accentuator has become more prominent than ever thanks to surges in trends such as Movember.

The fourth-place claimant is an everyday essential in most people’s wardrobe - leggings. In third place are bomber jackets, which were all the range with boys and girls during the ‘80s and seen as a must-have item. The bomber jacket gained popularity again back in the early to mid-2010’s, before reappearing over recent months.

Grease clearly had a huge influence on fashion, and still does to this day. Add Danny Zuko to the equation, and you find ‘leather jacket’ was the second highest search term... without ‘T-Birds’ on the back, however.

Securing a strong victory as the most popular resurgent ’80s trend is one of the most iconic men’s hairstyles, the mullet.
