The most popular baby names of 2019 so far have been revealed

Last year, the Office for National Statistics revealed that Olivia and Oliver were the two most popular baby names in England and Wales – but this year two unique names might bump them from the top spot.

The experts at Nameberry have crunched numbers and found that Posie for girls and Milo for boys are the most popular baby names of 2019 so far.

These results came after the US site analysed which names attracted most of its 11 million views.

Top 10 girls’ names of 2019 so far

1. Posie

2. Isla

3. Olivia

4. Aurora

5. Maeve

6. Cora

7. Amara

8. Ada

9. Amelia

10. Charlotte

Aurora and Maeve are new entries to Nameberry’s top 10 list, while the site says Posie is popular because it mixes a number of baby name trends – it’s vintage, a nature name and a nickname-name.

The moniker replaced Olivia in the number one spot, while Milo replaced Atticus, which held the title of most popular boy’s name in Nameberry’s 2018 list.

It seems Ireland is having an influence as Maeve and Finn are both important figures in Irish mythology while Cora and Theodore can both be traced back to ancient Greece.
