The most overworked regions in the UK have been revealed

Did you know that every year, Brits work an extra two and a half weeks a year more than any other country in Europe?

With this in mind, it’s unsurprising that work-related stress accounts for half of working days lost in the UK.

But, have you ever wondered who is likely to be the most overworked?

After analysing ONS data, thinkmoney has investigated burnout Britain by uncovering which regions work the most contractual hours and get paid overtime.

Employees in Scotland and the East of England work the most hours in the UK – 2,007.2 hours per year (equating to 287 working days), while Wales works the least amount of hours in the UK.

In terms of paid overtime, Northern Ireland works the most. Every year, the average employee works an additional 228.8 hours on top of their contractual hours.

Surprisingly, London employees work the second least amount of paid overtime across the UK – 176.8 hours per year.
