The Most Memorable & Snazzy ARIA Awards Red Carpet Looks Throughout The Years

While the ARIA Awards are a night for recognising all of the Aussies musos and their hard work, it’s also an opportunity for our fave artists to express themselves through their style on the red carpet. So, without further ado, here are some of the most iconic, memorable and snazzy looks from the ARIAs throughout the years.

Now, before we jump into this mammoth list, jam-packed with some of Australia’s most beloved artists, we must remind ourselves that fashion is always evolving. So, please keep that in mind before you yuck our yums!

Iconic ARIA Award red carpet outfits throughout the years

Delta Goodrem, 2003 ARIA Awards

Our OG fairy pop princess. (Image source: Getty Images)

Starting strong with Aussie pop diva Delta Goodrem who blessed us with this pink dress at the 2003 ARIA Awards. Alongside this bedazzled ensemble, Goodrem also sported a silver hand chain with a sharp, choppy pixie cut, reminiscent of my fave Twilight vampire, Alice.

Kylie Minogue, 2002 ARIA Awards

Padam, PADAYUMMM. (Image source: Getty Images)

OFC we had to follow up Goodrem’s look with the Queen of Aussie Music, Kylie Minogue, who wow-wow-wowed the ARIAs with this white and silver geddup! The hair, the flow of the dress and the diamonds are very reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. We love!

And for a cheeky bonus outfit shoutout, here’s Minogue with fellow Aussie icons, The Veronicas, at the 2015 ARIA Awards AKA a motherquake.

My big three. (Image source: Getty Images)

Timomatic, 2014 ARIA Awards

Miss this reality TV king. (Image source: Getty Images)

So You Think You Can Dance? and Australia’s Got Talent superstar rocked the 2014 ARIAs with a beautiful Dashiki — a vibrant West African garment — paired with distressed jeans, a giant hat and a chain.

Peach PRC, 2023 ARIA Awards

That chest piece was and is everything. (Image source: Getty Images)

Peach PRC is an Aussie artist who also uses their outfits as a form of creative expression. I remember seeing this fit IRL and being incredibly impressed by the chest piece! It’s truly giving Barbie Fairytopia.

Hi-5, 2004 ARIA Awards

We L-O-V-E these looks! (Image source: Getty Images)

We can’t walk down ARIA memory lane without mentioning the legendary group that is the original Hi-5 five: Charli Robinson, Kathleen de Leon Jones, Tim Harding, Nathan Foley and Kellie Crawford.

I feel like if someone asked for peak Y2K fashion, you’d show them this image. The vibrant colours, the cowl neck dress on Kathleen, Tim’s spiky highlight hair — it’s just soooo 2000s-core.

Barkaa, 2022 ARIA Awards

The dress is everything! (Image source: Getty Images)

Western Sydney rapper Barkaa pulled out all the stops for the 2022 ARIA Awards. Per RUSSH magazine, the “King Brown” songstress’ dress was inspired by Ikuntji Artists.

Luke Steele of Empire Of The Sun, 2009 ARIA Awards

That’s where my hair went… (Image source: Getty Images)

You can’t have an iconic ARIAs outfits listicle without mentioning the juggernaut that is Empire Of The Sun. Here we have Luke Steele, who’s ‘fits were always driven by fantasy and the dream state.

However, years later, fellow Empire Of The Sun member Nick Littlemore admitted that they wouldn’t wear these ensembles today, telling the Sydney Morning Herald in 2020 that components of their past outfits were inspired by other cultures and their identities.

Marcia Hines, 2005 ARIA Awards

That’s MY IDOL. (Image source: Getty Images)

Whilst being a powerful vocalist, Marcia Hines has always proved herself to be *that girl* on the red carpet. This gold ‘fit paired with the chunky pearls and the gold leaf headpiece is just everything.

One Direction, 2014 ARIA Awards

We love you, Liam. (Image source: Getty Images)

We can’t talk about the ARIAs without mentioning One Direction’s appearance Down Under. Although I was shitting on blokes for rocking up in the regular black and white outfits, I will make the exception for our fave Brits. I will say, they look like they’ve walked out of a Wattpad cover pic. We’re obsessed.

Raen, 2007 ARIA Awards

The feathers! (Image source: Getty Images)

Aussie girl group Raen came in clutch with a feather motif at the 2007 ARIA Awards, despite wearing completely different outfits. It just really shows that they’re united and together, unlike other girl groups who’ve graced red carpets — *cough* Fifth Harmony *cough*.

Ricki Lee Coulter, 2005 ARIA Awards

Now this is a look I need to steal. (Image source: Getty Images)

Style icon and powerhouse vocalist Ricki Lee Coulter brought some major drama to the ARIAs in 2005 with this multi coloured, patterned dress. However, I’d like to turn your attention to that extravagant neck piece! It’s like a chanedelier, which brings us to our next memorable look…

Sia, 2009 ARIA Awards

Sia, we see ya! (Image source: Getty Images)

While it’s not my favourite look, I had to put Sia‘s 2009 look here. The tights, the ballet flats, the pose. That’s all.

Operator Please, 2007 ARIA Awards

Always wanted to be them. (Image source: Getty Images)

In high school, the Year 10s had this one emo group that I always wanted to be a part of and they always reminded me of Operator Please. Anyways, this is the iconic QLD-based group at the 2007 ARIAs, looking chic as hell. Love it, love it, love it.

Katy Perry, 2014 ARIA Awards

Bon appétit, baby! (Image source: Getty Images)

Off the heels of her Teenage Dream-era, Katy Perry blessed the Aussie Katy Kats with an appearance at the 2014 ARIAs. While she didn’t come in with one of her camp AF ‘fits, she did give us this iconic, black two piece paired with some stoonin’ pumps.

Kobie Dee, Barkaa and Matty Mills, 2023 ARIA Awards

YES YES YES. (Image source: Getty Images)

Kobie Dee, Matty Mills and Barkaa made a splash at the 2023 ARIA Awards, with all three stars wearing vibrant, loud and beautiful tailored suits. I also wanna turn your attention to Barkaa’s accessories. Her rings and earrings??? Just stunning.

Saddle Club, 2004 ARIA Awards

Hello world. (Image source: Getty Images)

In another blast from the past, here are the Saddle Club icons gracing the 2004 ARIA Awards. I remember seeing these divas at Mount Druitt Westfield singing up a storm to promote their album. Anyways, here they are, giving us 2000s realness, and honestly, some of these fits remind me of OG Supré!

Would do anything for them to bring back their old stock TBH.

The Blackeye Peas, 2004 ARIA Awards

The band that raised me TBH. (Image source: Getty Images)

A year after dropping the life changing Elephunk album, the beloved Blackeye Peas came Down Under for the 2004 Awards. I would argue that these ‘fits right here truly represent that early 2000s era, where you couldn’t hide from their hit tracks “Let’s Get It Started” and “Shut Up”. It just brings me so much joy to see the band like this before The End dropped years later.

5 Seconds Of Summer, 2014 ARIA Awards

This pictured agedme 50 years. (Image source: Getty Images)

Alongside One Direction, Aussie boyband 5 Seconds Of Summer (AKA 5SOS), also made an appearance!!! Not the most cohesive group look, but we had to chuck them in here for the memories.

Jessica Mauboy, 2010 ARIA Awards

The drama! (Image source: Getty Images)

From the bun, to the shoulder piece, to the colours, pop princess Jessica Mauboy brought an explosion of colour and drama to the 2010 ARIA awards.

Tom Ballard and Alex Dyson, 2011 ARIA Awards

Not Kimbra’s bob. (Image source: Getty Images)

Radio presenters Tom Ballard and Alex Dyson stunned the ARIAs red carpet in 2011 by recreated Kimbra and Gotye‘s look in the iconic music video for “Somebody I Used To Know”. Honestly, would love to see someone do this look for funsies again!!

The Veronicas, 2008 ARIA Awards

Obsessed. (Image source: Getty Images)

The messy, choppy bobs paired with the matching red lip and high heels???? Oh, they meant BUSINESS.

Honestly, I could put every ARIAs Veronicas look on this list, but somethng about this one (especially that clear bangle) just pulls me in.

Missy Higgins, 2005 ARIA Awards

Mother!!! (Image source: Getty Images)

ARIAs red carpet veteran, ARIAs Hall of Famer and Aussie music icon Missy Higgins always HITS when its comes to the ‘fits (and her tunes). Just like The Veronicas, I could share a bunch of looks from the Ten Days singer. However, this one with the giant white ribbon truly pulls on the nostalgia heart strings of mine.

There’s also this 2012 ARIAs look that I also froth, mostly because of how unique it is when it comes to the patterns, colours and lines of the dress.

The shoes?? Amazing. (Image source: Getty Images)

Honestly, there are so many looks I could jot down on that page but for now, those are some of our faves. Fingers crossed 2025 packs on the drama!
