The most expensive homes sold in Newcastle and the North East in September

Luxurious homes in easy reach of central Newcastle and fabulous countryside properties in Northumberland made up the most expensive house purchases in the North East last month.

Data from the Land Registry reveals the area's millionaire's rows, showing the streets where people paid the highest prices for property in September.

Smart suburb Gosforth dominates the list, featuring two homes worth a fair bit over £1m.

Home buyers are also paying top dollar to live in the likes of Jesmond and Ponteland.

Here's were the top 10 most expensive house purchases made in the region last month took place:

Elmfield Road, Gosforth, Newcastle

Sold for £1,325,000 on September 9

September's priciest house lies on tree-lined Elmfield Road, near the heart of Gosforth.

The swanky semi-detached house has increased in its already-impressive value, rising £430,000 since it was last sold for £895,000 in 2003.

Sold for £1,300,000 on September 20

Gosforth remains at the top of the pile, with this fancy five-bedroom, two-bathroom house which sits among the large and luxurious houses on leafy Westfield Drive, close to the Town Moor.

Sold for £980,000 on September 6

With seven bedrooms and a conservatory with views over the large gardens, estate agents described this house as both "traditional and contemporary in design" - and its new owners obviously agreed it was "exceptional", shelling out close to £1m to buy it.
