'The morra?!' Couple go viral after comparing words in Scottish and English languages

A couple have gone viral after they shared hilarious clips of them comparing English phrases to Scots on TikTok.

James Seymour, who moved from Irvine to Scarborough when he was eight, regularly has fiancee Cherish Sibanda cracking up as he explains what the Scots version of typical English phrases are.

In one of their most popular videos, which has had nearly 50,000 likes, Cherish states that in England she would say "tomorrow" to which James responds with "do you mean the morra?"

She quickly ends up laughing after James explains that Scots don't say "I am", they say "am ur", as well as "amurnae" instead of "I am not".

And Cherish goes into fits when James uses the old Chewing the Fat catchphrase "Gonny no dae that", when explaining how Scots say "can you stop doing that?".

The pair, who now live together in Huntingdon near Peterborough, post as the Seymour Family and regularly make TikToks together after James signed up to the video platform to create a clip of the Toilet Roll Keepy Upy trend for the local junior football team he runs.

Since then, they've amassed over 110,000 followers and filmed over 70 clips together, many featuring sons Roman and Luca.

But it's the clips featuring Scottish phrases that James loves the most, he said: "My favourite is the tomorrow/ I am/ I'm not video, we had a great laugh making that one and the numbers speak for themselves, over 400k views and 45k likes.

The Scot explained that he loves springing new expressions on Cherish, he added: "I always try and surprise her with the words/phrases to make sure that it's a genuine reaction."

The pair say the response to the video has been incredible, James explained: "The comments are always full of people asking for more and letting us know what words they use instead or where they're from.

James, who works as a drayman says he often gets recognised when he's at work, thanks to the videos, he said: "I've been down in pub cellars putting kegs away and the customer has come running down with the video on their phone saying 'is this you?'"

He joked that he even gets recognised playing football and that he and Cherish, who were recently engaged, get asked about the videos a lot and added that even their son Roman gets some of the spotlight.

"The best one was when we were out shopping together my son Roman was trying to get my attention, and the person in front of us in the queue just turned around and said 'I knew I recognised his voice'."
