The mood in the Manchester United dressing room following Southampton draw

Juan Mata has spoken of Manchester United's frustration following their draw with Southampton on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side dropped points for the third time in a row this season as they were held to a 1-1 draw at St Mary's.

United had taken the lead through Daniel James in the first-half but saw their lead cancelled out when Jannik Vestergaard headed the hosts level in the second-half.

Kevin Danso saw red for Southampton shortly after the equalising goal but United were unable to make their man advantage count as they failed to find a break though.

Speaking after the game, Mata spoke of his frustrations and insisted it was a case of two points dropped rather than one gained.

"Two points dropped," Mata told MUTV after the match.

"Irrespective of Southampton having some chances and playing some good football for some moments, we have to come to this kind of game and win and go back to Manchester with three points.

"So the feeling is frustration and two points dropped again.

"There were a few dangers crosses from Dan (James) and Aaron (Wan-Bissaka) which we couldn't connect, and nobody could score. Great chance also for Mason (Greenwood), he was unlucky.

"But it wasn't enough. Obviously when you are one more player and they want to defend we had the chance to create a bit more, but we couldn't. At the end of the game we come back frustrated because we wanted to win, we need to win. We are coming back without three points."
