The money that's been raised in memory of the Cardiff Half Marathon runner who died after collapsing at finish line

A fundraising page set up to honour marathon runner Nicholas Beckley's memory has raised more than £2,000 so far.

Mr Beckley was just 35-years-old when he suffered a cardiac arrest at the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday, October 6.

He received immediate medical attention at the finish line but later died in hospital.

Run 4 Wales set up a GoFundMe page to support Mr Beckley's family who are raising funds for mental health charity Mind in memory of Mr Beckley.

By Tuesday morning the total amount raised on the page was £2,301.58.

Fellow runners have also sent their sympathies to Nick's family.

One person wrote: "From one runner, to another, we are family and we feel your loss, with love."

Another wrote: "I worked with Nick for several years in Cardiff Council's planning service. He was always polite with a smile on his face. A very sad loss."

A third tribute read: "So sad to read this news yesterday. Thinking of everyone affected. From two runners who have also adopted Cardiff as our home. Rest in Piece (sic)."

Nick's death came a year after two runners - Ben McDonald and Dean Fletcher - both suffered cardiac arrests and died after taking part in the race.

Nick's brother, Andrew Beckley, described him as "a true Gentleman who will be sorely missed and always loved by all."

Andrew paid a touching tribute to his much loved brother.

Nick was born in Devon in 1983, and moved to Cardiff in 2003 to study at Cardiff University and made the city his home.

He worked as a Senior Planner at Cardiff Council where he was a valued member of staff.

This was his third time running the marathon, and he was a regular runner and football player.
