With many items available for free next-day delivery for Prime members as well as the option to use the Subscribe and Save service on frequently used products, buying from Amazon could save shoppers money, even on the most mundane purchases.
Amazon's Subscribe and Save service is a monthly auto-delivery subscription service which allows customers to save up to 15 per cent or more on certain products. The service is free to all Amazon customers, but Prime members could save as much as 20 per cent by signing up for a least five different monthly deliveries - it may mean a weekly shop works out cheaper on this sign up than in a supermarket.
For example, for everyday cleaning with added antibacterial properties, the Dettol Tru Clean Antibacterial Surface Cleaning Spray with a crisp pear fragrance is a popular choice for wiping down surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom and other areas of the home. Currently available at Asda for £3 for a 750ml spray bottle, Amazon is selling the same product in a pack of six of the same size bottles for £13.50 - if you were to buy six bottles from Asda it would cost £18.
Harpic Active Fresh Toilet Cleaning Gel is currently on sale at Asda for £1.30 for a 750ml bottle, but by choosing the Amazon Subscribe and Save service, a pack of 12 bottles will cost £14.04.
When it comes to doing the dishes, Sainsbury's is currently selling 75 Finish All in One Lemon Dishwasher Tablets for £10, but on Amazon they are £9.38 for 90 Finish dishwasher tablets, using the Amazon Subscribe and Save option.
Laundry products can also be found for less on Amazon, with a 6.5kg box of Surf Tropical Lily Washing Powder (approximately 130 washes) on sale for just £12.60 using Subscribe and Save, instead of the £6 price for the far smaller 2.25kg box at Sainsbury's. Buying the bigger box could see the cost per wash reduced from 13p per wash to under 10p.
It's not just the cleaning products themselves that can be purchased for less on Amazon, essential cleaning accessories can also be found for a few pence cheaper.
