The moment young Alfie Boe fan was picked from crowd to sing with him in Manchester

It was the moment mum Claire had dreamed of, but it was her son Tom who grabbed the limelight at Alfie Boe's concert in Manchester.

As the youngest fan in the room at the star's Bridgewater Hall gig, 11-year-old Tom was chosen by the artist to join him at the stage.

With Claire, his sister Emma and grandma Janet Hulse looking on in awe, Tom sang some of the lyrics to Boe's hit Keep Me In Your Heart.

After belting out 'Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo', he was high-fived by the singer and given a rapturous applause by the excited crowd.

Claire, who lives in Tyldesley, said: "Alfie spoke to Tom earlier in the show and asked his name and age. He said he was the youngest fan in the room.

"Then later he asked him to come to the stage and join in the song. I think I was most excited - I love Alfie, he’s gorgeous - but Tom he is a fan and loves him too, my influence I suppose.

"He got the ticket for Christmas off his grandma. She was there too. Tom's very shy so I was surprised he did it if I’m honest. He doesn't sing at home but he's started drum lessons and loves his music."

And his appearance wasn't the only treat for Tom, a pupil at Tyldesley Primary School in Wigan. The youngster was given a little memento by the singer too.

Tom, whose favourite singers are Bruno Mars and George Ezra, said: "I was amazed that he picked me to go up, I was really scared but excited at the same time.

"Alfie was really nice and encouraged me to do it! He gave me his plectrum as a thank you which was really nice of him."

An Evening with Alfie Boe in Manchester was at The Bridgewater Hall on Friday as part of his wider UK tour . His next stop is Nottingham on Wednesday.
