The moment Stan Kroenke received a special award that will not go down well with Arsenal fans

Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke found himself in possession of a coveted award on Sunday night.

Kroenke's Los Angeles Rams opened their new $5billion SoFi Stadium with a win against the Dallas Cowboys on the NFL's opening weekend.

After American Football games, it is tradition for the winning team's head coach to hand out the game ball, or often a few game balls to the stand-out players.

But after the Rams opened up their new stadium with a win against the Cowboys, head coach Sean McVay did something a little different.

Arsenal's front three celebrations

McVay handed a game ball to owner Kroenke in recognition of him building - or at least paying for - the stadium, which will also be shared with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Before marching over to Kronke and handing him the ball, McVay said: "There are so many people I could recognise right now but this is the first of many in this beautiful stadium he built.

"Where is Mr Kroenke?"

The moment may not go down too kindly with Arsenal fans, who remain aggrieved with how Kroenke has ploughed so much money into the Rams while the Gunners crave greater investment.

The new SoFi Stadium, which is a sight to behold, was originally set to cost $2.66billion, but it eventually cost almost double that with costs estimated to be beyond $5billion.
