The moment police crash into driver heading the wrong way down Princess Road

This is the moment GMP officers took down a motorist after they drove the wrong way down a main road during a police chase.

In the dash cam footage, an unmarked police vehicle is seen crossing the carriageway before stopping the stolen Nissan Qashqai by crashing into its side.

Five arrests were made following the police chase, traffic cops tweeted.

Police began chasing the Nissan in Manchester city centre.

The driver of the stolen car then led police into south Manchester, along Princess Road.

Fellow road users had to swerve out of the way as the driver came racing towards them in the wrong direction.

The footage shows the moment a police car then stopped the car by smashing into its side.

Posting on Twitter on Friday morning, GMP Traffic wrote: "Stolen Nissan Qashqai was sighted by #GMPSRTT patrol in Manchester city centre.

"Car then failed to stop and was pursued out the city before it then travelled the wrong way along Princess Road causing other road users to take evasive action. Tactical contact used and five arrested."
