The moment Nigel Farage is left soaked and furious after being hit by a milkshake

Nigel Farage has been hit by a milkshake while campaigning ahead of the European elections.

The Brexit Party leader, who was visiting Newcastle, was reported to be furious after a protester left him soaked.

Mr Farage was said to be surrounded by security and activists when he was hit by the drink by a male.

He was quickly ushered away from the scene in a car, with pictures and video showing his suit covered in milk.

According to Chronicle Live , Mr Farage could be heard saying to his security "this is a failure" and "how did that happen?" immediately after.

He was greeted by supporters and North East candidate Brian Monteith as he arrived and was heckled several times but was also given plenty of support.

There was no organised protest as he arrived as his visit had not been pre-announced.

Mr Farage was only intending to be in the city for under an hour before another rally visit in Wakefield and another later in Bolton.

The former UKIP leader is on course to virtually wipe out the Tories, according to a shocking new poll by the Sunday Mirror.

Nine out of 10   Brexit   Party voters choosing him on Thursday promise to also do so in a General Election – which could leave just two Conservative MPs in Parliament.
