The moment masked men carrying weapons threatened post office staff during armed robbery

Masked men carrying weapons smashed their way into a post office before threatening staff during an armed robbery in Wigan .

Two men – one wielding a machete and the other an extended baton – targeted Golborne Post Office, in Heath Street, at 5.30pm on Friday, October 4.

After smashing a glass panel in the front door to break in, the pair demanded staff hand over a quantity of cash.

CCTV footage from inside the premises shows terrified staff sprinting into a back room as the men make their way through the building.

But after leaving empty-handed, the two men fled the scene in a silver Vauxhall Meriva, which was later found abandoned several hundreds yards away in Legh Street.

No one was injured during the robbery.

However, police say staff members at the post office were left shaken by what happened.
