Liverpool legend recreates iconic Jordan Henderson moment from Champions League final

Liverpool won the European Cup for a second time since it was rebranded as the Champions League after beating Tottenham Hotspur last week.

From Trent Alexander-Arnold to Virgil van Dijk , Jurgen Klopp 's side cemented their place in Anfield folklore as goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi saw them run out 2-0 winners in Madrid.

14 years earlier, Rafa Benitez's side famously wrote their own names into the Anfield record books as the likes of Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard and Djimi Traore helped conquer AC Milan in Istanbul.

But for a generation of former Liverpool stars who had grown up watching the Reds dominate Europe in the late 70s and early 80s, they missed out on representing the club on Europe's biggest stage.

With Liverpool not appearing in the tournament between 1985 and 2002, names like Robbie Fowler , Jason McAteer and Patrick Berger were never able to bring the Champions League trophy back to Anfield, while Steve McManaman had to move on to achieve such success with Real Madrid.

Until today.

The Liverpool legends ran out 3-2 winners over Borussia Dortmund in their latest outing over in Hong Kong on Saturday.

Coming just a week after Klopp's side's Champions League triumph, the watching home crowd were in good spirits as Salif Diao scored a brace before player-manager Fowler scored the winner from the penalty spot.

And it thanks to the crowd that Fowler finally got his hands on the European Cup. Well kind of.

After beating Dortmund, the Liverpool legends went to celebrate in front of the Reds fans.

In a video posted on Fowler's Instagram account, McAteer can be seen spotting an inflatable European Cup trophy in the crowd and beckoning for it to be passed down to the players.

Handing the 'trophy' to Fowler, the Reds player-manager channels his best Jordan Henderson impression as he teases lifting it up to the fans.

He then jokingly celebrates wildly with the rest of the team in front of the jubilant Hong Kong crowd.
