The moment ITV Emmerdale's Asan N'Jie threatens to stab and kill Hollyoaks' Jamie Lomas

This is the shocking footage of the moment Emmerdale's Asan N'Jie threatened to stab and kill Hollyoaks ' actor Jamie Lomas.

The intense showdown unfolded at Monday night's TV Choice Awards at the Hilton Park Lane in Mayfair, London.

In the video you can clearly see N'Jie being physically restrained as he hurled a string of expletives aimed towards Lomas.

At one point, N'Jie, who played Ellis Chapman in the ITV show, appeared to make threats to ‘knife’ Lomas – who is set to return to Hollyoaks as Warren Fox later this year.

In the background you can hear a witness shouting: "It's only a TV Choice Award."

After an ITV investigation into the allegations and footage, it was announced on Wednesday that N'Jie had been sacked from Emmerdale with immediate effect.

A spokesperson for ITV said: "Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.

"ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect."

N'Jie said in a statement: "My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

"I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

"I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this."

N'jie was nominated as best newcomer at the awards  for a storyline in which his character Ellis Chapman was stabbed, but lost out to EastEnders star Kara-Leah Fernandes.
