One of the real questions in recent weeks is whether or not Willian will still be a Chelsea player next season.
The 31-year-old’s contract at the Blues is set come to an end at the conclusion of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Brazilian winger signed a short-term extension to see out the season, however there is yet to be a conclusion to his long-term doubts.
Negotiations with the club had stalled, with a stand-off over the length of the deal which both sides want.
Willian is after a three-year deal, committing his future with the club after being very settled in London.
However, the Blues are not likely to give that to him, with the maximum they will go being for just two seasons.
Frank Lampard has constantly said that he is keen for Willian to come to an agreement with Chelsea, but that it could be difficult.
And there was one moment in the 3-1 FA Cup semi-final over Manchester United which proved why Lampard is so keen for him to put pen to paper.
Next season, the Blues will have a lot of creative players, with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner joining Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic.
However, what Willian gives more than any other winger in the side is the constant work rate and tracking back.
In the second half, a loose pass meant that the ball was given back to United, and left wing-back Brandon Williams started to move up the flank with it.
The 19-year-old had a big head-start over the senior Chelsea man, but the 31-year-old started to make ground.
With the action taking place right under Lampard’s nose, who could hear shouts of ‘go on, Willy’ from the Blues boss to his player.
Then in a flash, Willian won the ball back from Williams, stopped a potential attack and gave possession back to Chelsea.
If Willian does leave the club, then that will be something Lampard will definitely miss and he might struggle to find that in another of his wingers.
