The moment fireball tears through multi-storey car park at Manchester Airport

This is the moment cars were engulfed in flames as a fireball ripped through a car park at Manchester Airport .

A number of stationary cars were damaged or destroyed after the blaze broke out at the multi-storey car park in terminal two.

Luckily, nobody was injured.

Fire crews were scrambled to the car park on Friday morning after thick smoke plumes could be seen billowing from the roof.

The blaze is understood to have started with one vehicle before spreading to a number parked closed by.

At least four cars are thought to have been badly damaged or destroyed in the aftermath.

One, which is thought to be a Volkswagen, was completely burnt out.

An orange-coloured Peugeot 208 parked next to it was also badly damaged, along with a Range Rover Evoke and a Honda Jazz.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.

A spokesman for Manchester Airport said the incident was quickly brought under control, and that the car park has since reopened.

The top floor however, remains shut.

Any holidaymakers affected by the closure are asked to contact customer services.

The new west multi-storey car park at terminal two opened on April 1.

It was opened as the first phase of a £1bn transformation project to expand T2.

A passenger pier, connecting to T2, was also unveiled and a link bridge.
