4 Reasons The Moment Collector NEEDS to be on your to-read list:
1. The Storytelling
Yes, the storytelling, not the narrative, narrative sounds so formal doesn't it? Storytelling has a far more quiet, eerie sound to it and that's exactly how I'd describe this novel. It was as if Jodi Lynn Anderson was sat beside me, recounting a tale in an old, green armchair in the lamplight, there's just something indescribable about the way this story is written that reminds me of a lullaby, each word makes you feel something, most make your heart ache.
2. Friends
After a while, that's what the characters were to me, I didn't know as much about them as I would in other YA novels, Jodi only scratched the surface with each of her characters, but that's amazing, because I can tell there's more to all of them, I felt it in the way they spoke and the way they lived. For me, it was impossible not to feel each and every one of their emotions like they were my own, I felt sad, worried, anxious, betrayed, thrilled, scared, along with all three of these wonderful, complex people.
3. Love and Friendship
Both the romance and the friendship in this novel are beautifully written, developed enough but not overdone. And as each crumbled it was like I'd lost something too.
4. The End
I love sad and bittersweet stories, when the ache you feel at the end is what makes you fall in love with the story even more. Some books are unnecessarily tragic, this one was perfect.
