The moment Cardiff City fans and emotional colleagues paid tribute to beloved steward Dai 'Rav' Motherway

Cardiff City paid an emotional tribute to much-loved former steward Dai 'Rav' Motherway.

Fans and Dai's former stewarding colleagues rose to their feet and applauded him ahead of the match in a touching gesture.

Motherway, affectionately known to fans as 'Ravanelli', was a fixture of the matchday experience for many Cardiff and Wales fans visiting the Cardiff City Stadium.

He was also a passionate Bluebirds fan, and was often spotted in many City away ends over the years, while also helping out with fans of the national team home and away.

Dai passed away earlier this week following a short illness at the age of 58, and City fans were given the chance to pay tribute ahead of their Championship clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.

The club also posted a special tribute in the day's matchday programme.

It read: "It's with the greatest sadness that we learned of the passing of a dear friend and colleague earlier this week, Dai Motherway.

"Dai, who was affectionately known by City and Wales supporters as Ravanelli, passed away following a period of illness.

"Our thoughts are with Dai's family, friends, colleagues and indeed all who knew him and held him in such high regard. He will be greatly missed.

"Forever a Bluebird."
