The moment a woman was spotted driving on the M60 with a dog on her lap... yes, it was caught on camera

This is the moment a woman was spotted driving on the M60 with a dog on her lap.

Mobile footage shows the Pomeranian pooch squirming around and looking over the steering wheel of the grey Peugeot.

In the video, which was taken just before noon on Saturday, the dog can been standing in the woman's lap as she drives along the M60 near Prestwich in torrential rain.

A passing van driver, whose son took the film, shared the 'astounding' footage with the Manchester Evening News  in the hope the driver will be prosecuted.

He said: "We'd just left junction 17 at Prestwich when my son said 'Dad there's dog driving a car'.

"He said 'Get closer', so we pulled up alongside and I told him to take a video.

"It was just astounding to see. There's no excuse for it.

"You can see the dog jumping around and everything else.

"What if it had jumped down into the footwell or jumped up into her face?

"If this was a drink driver or somebody on their mobile phone something would be done about it.

"The weather was terrible, there was a workforce in the road.

"What if she had swerved and hit us? She could have hit my son.
