The moment a police chase ends with a bump - before a machete is seized by cops

This is the moment a police chase comes to an end in Bury - before officers discover a deadly weapon.

Officers followed a blue Seat Altea car through the streets of Bury on Tuesday (August 24).

The vehicle was spotted travelling through the town on suspected cloned number plates.

The chase came to an abrupt end near a block of apartments, as the Seat appears to reach a dead end in a car park.

In the video, the police vehicle appears to bump the back of the Seat as it comes to a halt.

The car budges forward slightly before the driver appears to give up - with three people seen fleeing the Seat on foot.

They appear to run off in different directions, with one person heading to the back of one of the apartment blocks and climbing over a wall.

An officer from Greater Manchester Police's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit, which chased the car, can be seen following him.

Officers arrested two suspects on suspicion of two catalytic converter thefts following the pursuit yesterday, with GMP's Tactical Dog Unit and police helicopter involved in the search.

A machete was also seized by officers.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon, and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and robbery.

GMP says the teenager has been bailed pending further enquiries and the man remains in custody for questioning.

The force believes the Seat Altea is also linked to 13 other catalytic converter thefts.

In a post on Twitter, a spokesperson for GMP wrote: "Two suspects were held on suspicion of two catalytic converter thefts after our Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit pursued this car on suspected cloned plates in Bury yesterday.

"A machete was recovered and the car's suspected of being linked to 13 other similar thefts."

Anyone with information in connection with the thefts or another incident can contact GMP using the force's Live Chat feature or by reporting a crime online.
