The moment a man walks into an Uplands cafe and takes the staff tips from the counter

A Swansea restaurant celebrating its first anniversary saw it soured when a man walked in and took the staff tips.

Maisies Gin Bar and Restaurant in Uplands opened its doors 12 months ago, quickly establishing itself as a popular destination in the thriving Swansea suburb.

But on Thursday afternoon a man entered the property and took the bowl of tips left by customers for hard-working staff.

The incident was caught on the business’s CCTV, and an appeal has now been issued for information on the incident.

A spokesman for Masies said of the CCTV: “He goes and sits on the table closest to the counter."

He said the man then stood up when no-one was at the counter, picked up the container with the tips in, placed it in a bag and walked out of the business.
