The moment a cute seal playfully swims near Swansea marina

A seal has been spotted playing in the water at Swansea marina.

Passersby saw the grey seal close to the Trafalgar Bridge in SA1 on Wednesday morning.

While grey seals are pretty common in south Wales, they are normally seen in Pembrokeshire and sometimes Gower.

Those enjoying a walk around the marina could see the seal near the barrage.

This comes after the world's largest bony fish, an Ocean Sunfish, was spotted off the coast of Mumbles last week.

At the end of May a shark was found cut off from the sea and swimming around a pool of water at Caswell Bay.

Natural Resources Wales explained that seals spend time around the entrance to the River Tawe and can pass over the barrage during high tide.

A spokeswoman said: "Grey seals are relatively common in south-west Wales.

"There are higher numbers in Pembrokeshire, quite a few spend time around Gower and Worms Head in particular, but they are frequently seen further east.

"They spend time around the entrance to the Tawe and can pass over the barrage easily at high tide and return to the sea the same way or via the fish pass.

"They happily move between the Tawe impoundment and the sea."
