The moment a Bristol gritter driver appears to film from behind wheel on icy road

Bristol Waste is investigating footage which a gritter driver appears to have filmed while behind the wheel.

The video, reportedly shared on Snapchat early on Sunday (January 24), appears to have been shot by the driver of a moving gritter during snowy and icy weather which hit Bristol at the weekend.

Facebook posts, which appear to be from another gritter driver, show two still images from behind the wheel of a vehicle close to traffic lights.

In one image, the vehicle is close to a green light, shared with the caption: "sNOw chance of going home if it keeps coming down like this."

The second picture, which shows it near a red light, is captioned: "Lawrence Hill roundabout s*****r."

These posts were reportedly shared on Facebook on the same morning the footage circulated Snapchat.

Snow appears to be falling on icy roads in each of the social media posts.

A Bristol Waste spokeswoman confirmed the Snapchat and Facebook posts are being investigated.

She said: “The safety of the public and our crews is our number one priority and we have worked hard to achieve an exemplary safety record.

"We take anything which could undermine safety incredibly seriously.

"As soon as we were notified of these incidents we took immediate action and are speaking to those involved.

"We will be carrying out a thorough investigation to ensure this does not happen again.”
