The Mojito Hack: How you can keep spiders out of your home this autumn for just £2

It's that time of year again.

The cold is coming in and eight-legged creatures better off left outside are starting to creep in looking for warmth.

If the thought of spiders in your home fills you with dread, you've probably already tried a dozen ways of keeping them out.

Well here's a novel and cheap idea which its inventor swears works a treat: mint.

In a post on the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a woman named Sylvia shared her rather simple hack.

And the whole thing cost her under £2 to do.

If you've got some stuffed in the fridge or left over from some weekend cocktails, you may just be able to put it to good use.

The woman says she discovered that spiders hate the smell of mint and just a whiff of it can send them scurrying off in the other direction.

So she took some mint and put it inside a bottle of anti-bacterial spray.

She then sprayed the stuff all around her house to deter the bugs.

Her post reads: "Had leftover packet of mint and small amount of cleaner left. Chopped mint and added to anti bac cleaner and filled with water.

"Sprayed under window sill outside and around the door. I watched the spiders run as I sprayed. They hate mint right enough. Some people use essential oils but I just thought I would use up what I had."

Her post quickly garnered over 3,000 likes and more than 1,000 comments, with many saying they'd try the hack for themselves.

Give it a go and let us know if it works in the comments below.
