Alex Smithies 6
A couple of little distribution errors, which is unlike him of late, it must be said. Made a top save to deny Waghorn in the dying minutes of the match.
Leandro Bacuna 7
Did an excellent job as the makeshift right back again. Saved a certain goal with a brilliant clearance just after the break.
Sean Morrison 6
Hit a couple of really poor passes early on which put City under pressure, but also made a couple of important, calm interceptions to stymie Rams attacks.
Curtis Nelson 6
Was very solid, it must be said. Barely put a foot wrong and did a decent enough job trying to keep the Rams' attackers quiet.
Joe Bennett 6
A solid return to the starting line-up, although misplaced a couple of crosses. Made some nice runs but was never found owing to poor distribution.
Marlon Pack 6
Kept things ticking over nicely in the middle and gave Cardiff their defensive organisation. A solid outing.
Will Vaulks 5
Misplaced a number of passes early on and struggled to get into his usual rhythm. An off night for the Welshman. Subbed.
Sheyi Ojo 7 (star man)
Made one or two eye-catching runs and looked bright for the most part. Then played that killer ball for Kieffer Moore to latch on to after a terrific run.
Joe Ralls 5
Struggled to really impart any attacking verve on the game. Gave away the ball which led to the Waghorn free-kick, which he also gave away.
Junior Hoilett 5
Very quiet by his standards. Failed to provide much of an attacking outlet and over-hit a few crosses and blazed one effort miles over the bar. Hit the post with a header.
Kieffer Moore 7
A tough old night for him with very little service early on. When City went direct he tried his utmost to make a nuisance of himself and succeeded. Slotted home his goal so nicely.

Robert Glatzel (on for Vaulks 62) 6
Changed the dynamic of the City attack when he came on and looked bright enough, almost latching on to an Ojo cross.
