The minutes Kane, Bale & Co played this week as Spurs prepare for Newcastle

Newcastle United are looking for every possible advantage they can get over Tottenham ahead of this Sunday's Premier League encounter.

The Magpies go into the game desperate for points in their bid to beat the drop, with Fulham taking on Aston Villa immediately after United's match with Spurs.

Steve Bruce has at least been able to work with the majority of his squad over the international break, with only a handful - notably Martin Dubravka, Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis, Ciaran Clark and Jeff Hendrick - on duty with their countries.

Tottenham's training ground would have looked very different, however, with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho without the likes of Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Hugo Lloris during the 'break'.

Why Newcastle United supporters want Steve Bruce sacked

What condition they have returned to their club in remains to be seen, but Newcastle will be hoping their fresh legs could give them a slight advantage on Sunday.

Here's a run-down of just how busy the key Spurs' players have been.

Hugo Lloris 270 minutes

The goalkeeper played in every minute of France's three games, conceding just once in the draw with Ukraine and keeping cleans sheets in wins over Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kazakhstan.

Toby Alderweireld 270mins

Another even-present in the recent international spell, the Belgian defender didn't miss a second of wins over Wales and Belarus, plus the 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic.

Gareth Bale 183mins

Tottenham's on-loan Real Madrid man is a big favourite in his native Wales, and played the majority of their defeat to Belgium and the full 90 of the 1-0 success over the Czech Republic. Perhaps not surprisingly, he only had a nine-minute cameo in the friendly with Mexico.

Pierre Hojberg 180mins

Two full 90-minute run-outs and a rare goal for the Dane, who scored in a handsome 4-0 win over Austria and played a full part in a comfortable win over Israel.

Joe Rodon 180mins

The young defender seems to play more for Wales than he does for Spurs, and this was again the case with two 90-minute appearances against Belgium and the Czech Republic.

Harry Kane 179mins

Tottenham's talisman is also England's key man and, while he sat out the routine win over San Marino, he started and scored in both wins over Albania and Poland.

Matt Doherty 135mins

The Republic of Ireland defender played the full game in the 3-2 defeat to Serbia before coming off at half-time what turned out to be an embarrassing 1-0 loss to Luxembourg, The full-back is now an injury doubt for Sunday.

Serge Aurier 90mins

The Ivory Coast defender had a day to remember as his side beat Niger 3-0, scoring once and setting up the other two goals.

Tanguy Ndombele 82mins

The French defender featured for just 82 minutes for his country in their win over Kazakhstan.

Moussa Sissoko 9mins

The former Newcastle midfielder shouldn't be too exhausted on his St James' Park return, having featured in just two brief substitute appearances for France.

Steven Bergwijn 1min

The Dutchman had a 'blink and you missed it' substitute appearance in Holland's win over Latvia.
