The Mino Raiola transfer plan that could affect Donyell Malen sealing Arsenal return

Arsenal are set for a significant rebuild this summer ahead of Mikel Arteta's first full season at the Emirates Stadium and a reshuffle in the final third could be on the cards.

Both Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang and Alexandre Lacazette have both been linked with a departure from the club, which would leave the Gunners with a significant void to fill.

Plenty of names have been linked with a move to North London and among them is the club's academy graduate Donyell Malen, who has excelled since joining PSV Eindhoven.

The 21-year-old is widely-regarded to be one of the best young players in Europe after scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for the Eredivisie side.

Arsenal are among the clubs being linked with a move for Malen to bring him back to the Premier League but competition in the market for his services is likely to be fierce.

While the Gunners would likely be considered to be at the front of the queue due to their history with Malen, his agent Mino Raiola may throw a spanner in the works.

The outspoken super-agent stated earlier this week that he wanted to take 'a great player' to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, sparking fresh speculation on a number of his clients - including Manchester United's Paul Pogba, AC Milan stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

However, they are not the only names that could be lured into a transfer by Los Blancos and The Daily Mail has included Malen in a list of five players that Raiola could engineer a huge transfer for.

Malen has been extensively linked with Barcelona in recent months but, due to Raiola's contacts, Real Madrid could have the opportunity to pip their arch-rivals in the hunt.

Zinedine Zidane's side have been heavily reliant on Karim Benzema, who is now 32, with last summer's expensive addition Luka Jovic failing to cut the bill.

As a result, Mariano Diaz is the only other option in the squad and Malen could solve that problem, acting as the successor to Benzema at the front of Los Blanco's attack.
