This book was another breathtaking journey through this terrible world which you just can't get enough of. Shannon succeeds again in The Mime Order, with the believable, lovable characters and the constantly developing, exciting setting we are never left without something to think about. I loved it, and whilst the first book was better in my opinion (as it always seems to be), this book is one of the greatest sequels I have read in a while.
The second book in Paige Mahoney's journey follows her as she arrives back in London after escaping the horrific prison camp of Sheol 1. Not only is she trying to rid herself of the memories of her experiences, she is trying to find a way to use the information she gained whilst imprisoned and start a rebellion whilst she's at it.
I loved Paige even more in this book, as I feel like she really came into her own. Shannon developed her in a way which is satisfying but leaves us anticipating the further growth of this powerful central character. It was also interesting to get to know the rest of The Seven Dials, to begin to explore what they are like and how the voyant underworld really works.
I think the development of the extended time frame also made the story more interesting. As we begin to learn more and more about the past of Scion and Paige's Irish heritage, we begin to unlock our understanding of the plot even further. This makes the reading much more enjoyable.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The Bone Season was my first major leap into fantasy and The Mime Order has only further confirmed the fact that this is definitely going to be a genre I read a lot more of in the close future.
