The Mets had an absolute mess of a Monday and Twitter was there for it

The New York Mets are a mess.

I know that isn’t shocking to anyone, but it’s true.

Because boy what a Monday they had.

The team, which got swept by the last-place Marlins over the weekend, announced that manager Mickey Callaway will remain the team’s manager. That’s the type of announcement that only gets made when things are going terribly.

And then general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said the team learned on Saturday that Yoenis Cespedes, who has been out all year while recovering from heel injuries, broke his right ankle after stepping into a hole on his ranch in Florida.

I mean, can anything be more Mets than that injury?

Oh, and Callaway also came out Monday and said it was “unacceptable” for Robinson Cano to not run out a ground ball in Sunday’s loss.

Then Monday’s game against the Nationals began and this is what fans saw:
