The Met Office weather forecast for where you are in Wales this week as Hurricane Dorian causes wind and rain

Wales is braced for wind and rain as the Hurricane Dorian weather system makes its way to our shores.

A band of cloud and rain are likely to spread across the UK on Sunday as Scotland and Northern Ireland are the first to expect heavy precipitation overnight.

The Met Office say much of the rain is expected to be heavy and persistent, while temperatures remain milder than the last few days.

As the rain spreads south-eastwards over night, Monday morning will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and central and western England.

On Monday, heavy rain will gradually move south, with brighter skies following. However, that could spark some heavy and thundery showers during the afternoon.

But forecasters predict the country will heat up after a blustery start to the week as the remnants of Hurricane Dorian pass.

There are early indications that we may be about to experience another warm start to the Autumn, with a sunny weekend forecast next week.

Meteorologist Brian Gaze told MirrorOnline : "Computer forecast models support the three-month period ahead being among the warmest on record.

"Indian summer-like settled and sunny weather is forecast to start in a week's time, lasting a week or more and seeing highs up to 26°C.

"High pressure is expected to bring a southerly feed, with heat arriving from southern Europe and north Africa.

"The pattern of Saharan heat coming to the UK was big feature of summer this year, and is expected to repeat again."
