The Met Office weather forecast for Wales as Storm Francis moves away

Storm Francis will begin to move away from the UK today, but unsettled weather will remain in its wake.

The low pressure system that has hammered the UK with winds up to 75mph will move toward Denmark into Thursday, taking with it the worst of the gusty winds and rain.

But unsettled weather will continue, with showers lingering over Wales throughout Wednesday and the end of the working week.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Storm Francis will clear to the East of the UK by Wednesday lunchtime, leaving a brighter and more settled outlook for the remainder of the day."

But showery spells will continue to plague much of Wales into Friday before some relief during the bank holiday weekend.

According to the Met Office: "After a showery day on Friday, the bank holiday weekend should bring sunshine to most parts for a time with scattered showers before further unsettled weather is expected to move in from Tuesday next week."

The wet weather will cause cooler air to continue, with high temperatures failing to reach 20C in most locations in Wales.

Highs and low temperatures will continue to drop into the weekend, with some chilly nights bottoming out around 10C.
