The Met Office's Christmas Day 2019 weather forecast for Wales

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas ? Well according to the latest Met Office forecast this won't be your year.

But the good news is that previous forecasts that December 25 would be a wash out have been updated.

There is forecast to be dry weather and even sunshine for at least some of the day across Wales.

We have put together a forecast for all corners of Wales including the "feels like temperature" so you can plan your walking gear appropriately.

South east Wales

Temperatures of 8C max with a frosty start

After a frosty start the south of Wales should be on for a crisp clear day.

A Met Office spokesman said: "It will be a foggy and crisp start to the day.

"After that it will be a fine sunny day for most people. If you are thinking of going out for a walk you should wrap up because it will feel cold.

"The maximum temperatures will be about 8C."

South west Wales

Patchy cloud with temperatures of 7C max

Unfortunately for those in Swansea, Carmarthen and other areas of south west Wales it will be a slightly cloudier weather than further east.

The Met Office spokesman said: "It will be slightly patchier in the south west.

"There will be a frost first thing but after that it will be mainly cloudy with some period of sunshine.

"Temperatures will reach a maximum of 7C which is about average for the time of year."

Mid Wales

The coolest part of Wales, temperatures of 6C max

As you would expect given its height above sea level, mid-Wales will be the coldest part of the country on December 25.

The Met Office spokesman said: "It could be a very chilly morning with widespread frost and foggy patches.

"After this it will be a fine day with sunshine.

"It will not rain at all but it will still be damp on the ground given the large amount of rain we have had."

North Wales

No rain but a cloudier day, with temperatures of 8C max

People in the north have positives and negatives when it comes to the festive weather.

On the plus side they will not be seeing any rain but there will be less sun than in the south.

A Met Office spokesman said: "There will be some fog patches throughout the day though there will be occasional sunny spells.

"We have an area of high pressure above Wales that should keep the weather calm."

Boxing day and beyond

Everyone should certainly be making the most of the weather on Christmas Day because Boxing Day isn't due to be quite so nice.

The Met Office spokesman said: "After Christmas the weather is a bit more uncertain.

"It is going to turn gradually wetter and more windy. People travelling on the 26th should be aware that it could be hazardous driving conditions as some of the rain will be quite heavy.

"It will be just as wet of Friday but not a windy. A low pressure weather system will not be far away."
