The Met Office on Hurricane Lorenzo aftermath and the weekend weather forecast for Wales

After much speculation about the path of Hurricane Lorenzo and its knock on effects over here, the Met Office has lifted weather warnings for Wales at the start of the weekend.

A change in the track of the extra-tropical storm means the country won't be buffeted by wind and rain quite as intensely as originally forecast - but sunny skies and pleasant weather will still be a long way off.

Wet weather will continue to dominate the forecast into the weekend, putting a wrench in the plans of anyone hoping to spend time outdoors.

Into Friday night, windy weather will target south Wales, with temperatures hovering in the single digits.

People may be switching on the heating for the first time of the season, as the wind makes the damp air feel cooler.

Elsewhere across the country, cloud and patchy fog will make for a dreary evening.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle are likely, though totals will be a far cry from those measured in inches at the start of the week.

Come Saturday, spells of light rain are possible across the country before much heavier downpours arrive into the evening hours.

Heavy rain will continue throughout Sunday and into the next week.
