With just over a week to go until the big day, many people are wondering whether or not Wales will have a white Christmas this year.
There was a sprinkling of snow in some parts of the country earlier in the week as temperatures plummeted. But according to the Met Office, there's little chance snow will fall on Christmas day.
Instead, Wales will see more unsettled and unpleasant weather with heavy rain and strong winds expected in the lead up to December 25.
The Met Office said this is due to a stream of low pressure coming in from the west on Thursday meaning rain, wind and milder temperatures are expected.
Aidan McGivern, meteorologist and weather presenter at the Met Office, said: "It’s a powerful, angry jet and it’s just churning out low-pressure systems into western Europe that are drifting north towards the UK.
“Generally speaking, this means the weather will be wetter than average, windier than average and milder than average.
"This is the exact opposite you want to see if you fancy some snow."
Wednesday will start off cold and frosty but this will clear by mid-morning as rain moves into west Wales. By 6pm, heavy rain is expected across the country and winds are expected to pick up.
A double weather warning is in place for rain and wind this week . A yellow weather warning for wind is set to come into effect at 2pm on Wednesday and last until 3am on Thursday.
The forecast says: "Strong southeasterly winds are expected to develop during Wednesday afternoon across parts of southwest England and west Wales before spreading to Northern Ireland and parts of southwest Scotland later.
"Winds will tend to ease from the south during Wednesday evening."
A second yellow weather warning - this time for rain - will come into effect later in the day on Wednesday.
Lasting from 4pm until midnight, the warning is expected to unleash 20-30mm of rain in a six to nine hour period.
From Thursday winds will get stronger over the Atlantic and begin to move into the UK - meaning by the end of the week, Wales will be much wetter and windier.
Heavy rain is expected to hit parts if Wales on Thursday and again on Saturday evening, carrying on into Sunday morning.
The Met Office predicts temperatures will linger at around 10C in the daytime for the rest of the week only dropping to around 5C in mid and north Wales during the night time and early hours over the weekend.
However, while the lead up to Christmas day looks set to be wet and windy, the weather could change as easterly winds move in as the festive period draws to an end.
Mr McGivern said: "There are signs that beyond Christmas day the low pressure does change to high pressure, which suggests Christmas day could be the day it flips back. There is a signal that perhaps on Christmas day it might turn drier again, which means the potential return of frost and fog.
"This doesn’t mean it will be cold or snowy, it just means there is a better chance things will dry out again.
"If you're not into snow or you're travelling, this could be good news for you."
However, it's too early to know if the change in weather means widespread snow could fall in Wales in January.
