The Met Gala 2025 Red Carpet Is Here & For Once, Everyone Seems To Understand The Theme

Hello and happy Met Gala 2025 day to all who celebrate! Unlike the rest of the world tuning in with a champagne in hand, the Met Gala kicks off in the early hours of a Tuesday for those in Australia so grab your coffee (or a champagne, I don’t care, live your truth), throw on a blazer and get ready for the most opulent spectacle of the celebrity calendar.

For those who need a quick rundown, this year’s theme is Tailored for You, based on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibition Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. So, as the biggest worldwide names step foot on the blue, orchid-covered carpet, expect them to be dressed in crisp, tailored and sartorial looks.

The carpet arrivals kicked off around 7am with Vogue big dog Anna Wintour kicking things off by arriving with two of the evening’s celebrity co-chairs, Lewis Hamilton and Colman Domingo.

The carpet has now ended but from the get-go, I was liveblogging every celeb as they walked down the blue orchid-covered carpet. You can check out the best, worst and wildest looks below.

The best (and worst!) looks on the Met Gala 2025 red carpet

Quinta Brunson

Comedy queen Quinta Brunson looks absolutely stunning in this black and white striped gown. I love the delicate beaded detailing across the blazer and the gown.

Classy, as always.

Janelle Monae

You can always count on Janelle Monae to bring out the big guns for the Met Gala, and this year is no exception. She kicked things off with a box-like covering with exaggerated suit imagery on the front before whipping it off to reveal a black and red perfectly tailored suit underneath.

She paired the fit with a cunty little hat and a monocle. A big slay from Janelle, as per.

Andre 300

Trust Andre 3000 to come out swinging with a whole ass piano strapped to his body. No one expected this, but god, is it fun.

As mentioned, this year’s theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and to me, Andree 3000’s look represents the influence Black culture has undoubtedly had on music throughout the ages.

Jenna Ortega

I know this isn’t an award show but Jenna Ortega looks like a straight-up trophy in this shimmery, silver dress made out of rulers!!!

Not only is her styling giving old-school glam, but I’m loving the creative interpretation of tailoring on the theme. Because, you know, you need rulers to create suits.

Chappell Roan

Trust Chappell Roan to stand out and serve us something delicious to FEAST on. Her rock-inspired suiting moment paired with the statement make-up and big hair is giving KISS-inspired glam.

Chappell, we thank you for your service.

Kendall Jenner

This year, Kendall Jenner has kept things simple with pared-back styling to let her suiting-inspired gown do the talking. Personally, I love this tailored look that hugs her in the right places to find the perfect balance between masculine and feminine.

Regardless, Kendall Jenner could straight up wear a reusable Woolies bag and still look like a vision. The Kardashians star has been a mainstay of the Met Gala guestlist for a hot minute now, but this year, her brand 1800 Tequilla is sponsoring the event.

Kim Kardashian

I’ve got to admit, as the time ticked on, I was getting nervous that Miss Kimberly Kardashian wouldn’t be making an appearance at the Met Gala. Thankfully, the Skims founder did not disappoint.

Kim showed off her unforgettable curves in a leather off-the-shoulder bodice and skirt. Her neck is dripping in diamonds, and she paired it with a hat similar to Carmen Sandiego.

(Does anyone else remember that game or just me? If not, google it fr.)

Shakira

If there’s one eternal truth about Met Gala fashion, it’s that at least one person will have see-through panels.

This time around, I’m glad Shakira is keeping the tradition alive in this fun, skin-tight pink dress with an extra-large shrug.

Sofia Richie Grainge

I’m taking notes for my future wedding dress after looking at Sofia Richie Grainge‘s Met Gala 2025 outfit. The satin gown is perfectly fitted with an adorable cap sleeve and high neck from the front. But the back is where the drama is.

When Sofia turns around, she reveals a vulumptuous bow in cream satin. It’s so stunning and the perfect mix of crispy lines and gentle curves of fabric.

ADORE THIS.

Jeff Goldblum

Our king, Jeff Goldblum, has always been an advocate for suit styling that steps out of the box. Tonight, he’s kept it simple and added flair by adding a wool-collared coat.

He really continues to be the zaddy of our generation, and we love him for that. Also, this is unrelate,d but one time he told me that I had eyes like “crystalline pools”, and I’ll never get over it.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman‘s black, strapless gown is simple and elegant. The real standout here? Miss Babygirl has cut off her typically long, flowing hair for this slicked-back bob.

It’s a daring move for Nicole but god, it really highlights her gorgeous face structure.

Barry Keoghan

Remember last year when Barry Keoghan rocked up with Sabrina Carpenter and it was a whole thing? Well, now I feel like even though he is serving with this look, it’s missing something.

Speaking objectively about his look, I enjoy it. It’s good. Is he feeling it? I don’t know because in all the pics he has an expression like he’s waiting for his mum in the shoe section of Myer.

Lizzo

Miss Lizzo has arrived in a sculptural, black-and-white gown, and she is no doubt serving an elegance extravaganza!!

I love the details of the buttoned mermaid skirt, flowing blonde hair and the long cigarette. Cigarettes are bad for you, but I can’t deny how fkn cool I think the long ones look.

Megan Thee Stallion

You know it ain’t, you know it ain’t, the stallion!!!! You know it’s your girl!! Megan Thee Stallion has arrived, and I just know that coat would be so, so soft.

From the hair to the jewels, the “Savage” rapper is the epitome of luxury. It reminds me of an old-timey goddess or Megara from Hercules.

Doja Cat

Miss Doja Cat is the first celebrity to bring back the 1980s on the blue orchid carpet!

Everything about this look screams 80s business chic. I’m so obsessed with the glittery pinstripes, exaggerated shoulder pads, blue-purple eyeshadow and buffaunt-like hair. And the cheetah print? Iconic.

Would I wear this? Absolutely not, but I don’t have anywhere close to Doja’s naturally essence of je ne sais quois. The woman can — and will — pull off anything.

Aimee Lou Wood

I know that the Met Gala isn’t an award show, but if it were, the award for the cutest Met Gala 2025 attendee goes to The White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood.

This is her first ever Met Gala and I’m stoked to see that she has not only dressed gorgeously and in theme but is having a fun, silly time on the carpet.

Also, I am obsessed with the floral shoes paired with socks. Protect her at all costs!!!!

Demi Moore

Demi Moore requires one square metre of space at all times in this extravagant, sculptural gown.

As usual, The Substance star looks drop-dead gorgeous in this black and white, sparkly moment but honestly, I have no idea how it connects to the theme.

Jeremy Allen-White

Uh-oh! Someone better alert my fiancé because my hall pass just arrived!!!! Jeremy Allen-White is in the building looking as fine as ever.

Last award season, Jeremy stunned in head-to-toe Calvin Klein and proved that he truly could wear the fuck out of a suit. I have no idea if this suit is Calvin Klein, but I can confirm wholeheartedly that he is wearing the fuck out of that suit.

Walton Goggins

The charisma king has arrived, ladies and gentlemen! The White Lotus star Walton Goggins is giving the early stages of suiting in this coat. It looks like a draft, but I kind of love how the structured suiting elements are juxtaposed with visible stitching and rips. Under the coat, he’s wearing a black and white pleated skirt.

I don’t know what it is about this man, but he’s got it.

Doechii

Doechii the don, Doechii the dean, Doechii supreme has entered the Met Gala 2025!!!

Tonight, our beloved Swamp Princess has ditched the alligators to serve a dapper, cigar-smoking gentleman in this Louis Vuitton short-suit moment.

She really is the moment.

Lupita Nyong’o

Actor Lupita Nyong’o looks immaculate in this baby blue ensemble. I love the mix of contrasting textures in this look: The silk lapels, mottled fabric on the suit itself, the flowy cape and the hardness of the jewellery.

She’s expertly combined this with a pared-back, dewy makeup look, drawing the focus on her sparkly eyebrows.

Tracee Ellis-Ross

Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross is bringing the PINK to the blue, orchid carpet. I love how boldly shaped this look is and how Miss Tracee isn’t afraid to take up space on that carpet.

She described this outfit as “animated joy and artistry” and I see that completely.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is bringing her signature style to the carpet this year with her warrior-esque, leather look.

In an interview on the Vogue livestream, the “Flowers” singer explained that when she was thinking of how to approach the theme, she reflected on the intention behind fashion. For Miley, “gowns like armour” and they serve as a “representation of power and strength”.

I love that!

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter is a busy woman, and yet, she’s showing up to the Met Gala 2025 absolutely SERVING in a maroon suit leotard moment.

In a quick interview she did on the Vogue livestream, Sabrina revealed that her fit was designed by Louis Vuitton by Pharrell and because she’s so short — five feet to be exact — Pharrell told her that she couldn’t wear pants.

Fair enough! No pants, no problem and I always say that.

Dua Lipa

God, Dua Lipa is gorgeous, isn’t she? She’s giving flapper, 1920s goddess. From the feathers to the jewels and the knitted little bolero jacket, she looks like an old-timey movie star.

Put her on the silver screen!!

BONUS: Dua Lipa and Callum Turner being cute

Admittedly, Callum Turner‘s suit is kind of boring, but I love them as a couple and how loved up they look.

Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway certainly isn’t beating the drop-dead gorgeous allegations anytime soon!!! Our Devil Wears Prada princess is proving that you just can’t go wrong with a gorgeously tailored white shirt.

She’s paired it with a half-up-half-down moment and a floor-length striped sparkly skirt.

Joey King

Did anyone else expect Joey King to eat so goddamn HARD?! Colour me perplexed. Colour me shocked. I am obsessed with this outfit. From head to toe, miss Kissing Booth looks like a vision in green.

I love the different patterns in her shirt, her tie (frilly thing?) and cravat. Her suit, dripping in mirrors and jewels fits the theme beautifully whilst bringing something new to the table.

Obsessed.

A$AP Rocky

Another co-chair for the evening has arrived! Everybody say hello to Mr. Rhianna A$AP Rocky!!! He is serving classic, dandy gentleman in this timeless ensemble. Can’t go wrong with that!!!

Lorde

All hail Lorde, the master of double-sided tape!!! Her grey silk look is not only giving melodrama, but making me say ‘what was that?’ with the gravity-defying way her top is stuck on.

Truthfully, though, this is stunning. The detailing on the skirt, from the layers to the lace-up fastening, it’s gorgeous. I also love how her makeup and slicked-back styling are just as shiny as the satin material in the outfit. Very cohesive, no?

The blazer is there for good measure, I guess.

Zendaya

The princess of the Met Gala has arrived!!!!! Look, let’s be honest here, Zendaya never misses. This Louis Vuitton by Pharrell look immaculate. She is tailored within an inch of her life, and we have one man to thank — her stylist, Law Roach.

I’d do anything to look this crisp.

Pamela Anderson

Longstanding icon Pamela Anderson has further proven why she’s a multi-generational it-girl. Taking to the orchid carpet, she dazzled in a long-sleeved sequinned gown by Tory Burch and a gorgeous FAB (fuck ass bob) with cheeky microbangs.

As usual, mother is eating.

Trammell Tillman

Anyone who has ever been mean to Severance star Trammell Tillman can devour feculence because he is looking damn fine at the Meg Gala 2025.

From the two-tone brogues to the pin stripes to the knowing way he has raised his eyebrow, this is a man who knows he cooked.

Maya Hawke

Stranger Things star Maya Hawk‘s outfit is giving us the best of both worlds à la Hannah Montana. She’s got a structured strapless pink gown, and paired it with the world’s flowiest cape.

Who doesn’t love a bit of column A, and a touch of column B?

Emma Chamberlain

One of the first drop-dead gorgeous arrivals on the carpet is social media it-girl Emma Chamberlain. Emma is not only serving c*nt but also giving us some business in the front and party in the back action. I love everything about this look. It’s daring, it’s tailored and not in the way we’d expect.

The beloved podcaster is one of the first cabs off the rank because she’ll be busy with carpet correspondent duties soon.

Ego Nwodim

Before Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim grabs the mic to co-host Vogue’s livestream, she hit the orchid carpet in a peplum ensemble that would make the girls clubbing back in 2012 quake in their Jeffrey Campbell booties.

Jokes aside, this custom Christopher John Rogers look is giving opulence, and I love the detailing of the red heels and rainbow buttons on the sleeve.

Teyana Taylor

Hosting the livestream alongside Ego Nwodim is actress and singer-songwriter Teyana Taylor and I can’t get enough of this detailed, luxurious outfit. From the vibrant red, the pinstripe suit, the styling and the way she’s dripping in jewels, Taylor is giving us unbridled opulence.

She’s the boss — and she knows it.

Lewis Hamilton

This year, Formula One superstar Lewis Hamilton is acting as one of the co-chairs of the evening.

He’s always had a particular flair for fashion and it’s no surprise that the Ferrari driver rocked up in this gorgeous white, military-esque suit. In my eyes, he gets extra points for the fun little hat.

Coleman Domingo

When one of the evening’s co-chairs, Coleman Domingo, rocked up in this blue beaded cape, I knew we were in for a treat. This isn’t my first rodeo, my friends. This man has a secret. The cape is a ruse. The cape is look number one and he’s hiding a whole wardrobe change underneath.

Coleman Domingo (part deux)

Well, would you look at that? I love being right. Certified diva Domingo did in fact take off his lovely cape to reveal this black, white and grey checkered look.

I am obsessed. I love the silk scarf as a tie, the different textures and the oversized fabric flower on his lapel. I know we’ve only seen some particularly fashionable men step onto the carpet, but I’m already so impressed by the twists and turns we’ve seen in men’s suiting.

Sydney Sweeney

This is not a drill!!! This is not a drill! Sydney Sweeney is HERE and she is immaculate!!!!

Not only is the Anyone But You actor one of the most genetically blessed women I’ve ever seen, but her styling for events like these is always on point. Now, although Miss Euphoria over here isn’t wearing a suit, I feel like she’s leaned into the time period of the Danyism era — the late 18th and early 19th centuries — with the 1920s-inspired make-up and hair.

Alex Newell

My Glee princess, Alex Newell, has opted for a more traditional black ball gown with suiting elements. The top of the quilted bodice is giving a bunny rabbit. With the cuffs, it’s giving one of those little bunny outfits? You know?

Like the one Elle Woods wore to that party in Legally Blonde, but in black rather than pink.
