The message that Lee Bowyer had for his Charlton squad about reports linking him with QPR job

Lyle Taylor has lifted the lid on a conversation held with Lee Bowyer about the Queens Park Rangers job.

The Charlton boss is reportedly one of several targets as the Hoops look to appoint a replacement for Steve McClaren following his sacking earlier this week.

Bowyer has attracted plaudits for the work that he's done under difficult circumstances at The Valley, leading to reports that he could be a contender for the role at Loftus Road.

The former Leeds midfielder distanced himself from the role in a press conference on Thursday, and speaking to Love Sport Radio's Charlton Fans Show , striker Lyle Taylor revealed that a move is unlikely.

He said: "The manager came in and said it’s nonsense - I think he said nonsense or rubbish, I can’t remember which word he used.

“He said ‘there’s nothing in it, it goes to show how well you’ve done as a group and now we’re going to look at Plymouth’ and he started the video and that was it.

Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer speaks out about his future amid Queens Park Rangers link

“It was a minute or 45 seconds long and he told us there was nothing in it so let’s get back to work.

“There is nothing else that’s more important than the game in a day and a half. That was his attitude towards it.

“He put it to bed and got us back to work.

Sky Sports pundit makes his prediction ahead of QPR's trip to promotion chasing Norwich City

“I’d like to think he will still be in charge but a manager who has done as well as he has done will always have admirers.”
