The message Jose Mourinho has told his Tottenham team to pass on to Mauricio Pochettino

Jose Mourinho has claimed that he's not spoken to Mauricio Pochettino yet following his Tottenham exit last week.

The club announced the departure of the Argentine on Tuesday evening following a dreadful run of form in 2019, with Mourinho replacing him in the hotseat 11 hours later.

The new head coach marked his first game in charge with three points against West Ham on Saturday as they left the London Stadium with a 3-2 win, and he will be hoping to win his first match in N17 against Olympiacos to clinch their passage through to the Champions League knockout phase.

Claiming at his pre-match press conference that he has spoken to Pochettino's son who plays in the club's academy, he has stated that the former boss is welcome at the training ground if he wants to meet his former players.

"I haven’t spoke to him," he told reporters. "I’ve been there and I know what he’s going through.

"I spoke to his son, in our academy, and I will call him.

"I told the players here to tell him he’s free to come here whenever, to have a meal with the players, if he wants me here or not that’s fine."

Tomorrow's game will be Mourinho's first in charge at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and he is clearly looking forward to the occasion.

"I can imagine [the atmosphere], because I’ve been at the new stadium as a football lover, watching Spurs v Newcastle and I felt it," he added.

"The game was not good but I felt the connection between the fans and the team.

"When you move home but you get a better home you don’t miss it so much. I hope tomorrow can be the restart of the empathy between the fans and the team."
