The new Mercedes-Benz GLC electric SUV is a big deal for the German automaker. The company put a lot of effort into its next-generation EVs, starting from scratch with a new platform and headline-making tech specs.
Now, all that effort seems to be paying off, with Mercedes having a hard time keeping up with demand for the new GLC EV.
“Following the outstanding start of the new CLA, demand for the new all-electric GLC is now also significantly exceeding our expectations,” said Mathias Geisen, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Marketing & Sales.
The electric SUV debuted in Germany last September, with European customers already able to place orders for the fast-charging EV. According to Mercedes-Benz, the order books are “already filled well into the second half of 2026,” which means people are keen on getting behind the wheel of a well-rounded EV that’s capable of going over 400 miles on a full charge and top-up its battery in less than 30 minutes.
Mercedes also said that the GLC with EQ Technology is already being built in three shifts at its Bremen plant in Germany, with additional shifts on Saturdays to meet the demand. And if that’s still not enough, Mercedes-Benz will expand production at other factories to meet the demand.

We don’t have actual figures to go by, but by the looks of it, it sounds like a success story. For now, at least. A similar story was reported for the new BMW iX3 when assembly of the latest-generation German EV kicked off at BMW’s plant in Debrecen, Hungary. Who would have thought that delivering a decently styled EV that goes the distance would be a success, right?
U.S. deliveries of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 4Matic will start in late 2026, while sales of the more affordable GLC 300+ will kick off in early 2027. That said, we still don’t know how much it will cost when it reaches American dealerships. In Germany, the GLC 400 4Matic starts from €67.716,95 (roughly $79,500).
The base GLC 300+ is rear-wheel-drive and offers 369 horsepower and 371 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the GLC 400 4Matic comes with two electric motors for a total of 483 hp and 596 lb-ft of torque, good for a zero-to-60 time of 4.4 seconds. Both versions charge from 10-80% in under 24 minutes, with a healthy 330-kilowatt peak, while the maximum range will be over 400 miles on a full charge.
