Ever wanted to throw your own massive banquet in the middle of the Welsh countryside with an exclusive bunch of friends or family? There's an absolutely lush medieval holiday barn where you can do just that near Hay-on-Wye and the banquet table is actually crafted from a single tree trunk which spans the main living space, a stunning setting for that weekend brunch with the girls, massive Sunday roast to see off the weekend in style, or even a cheeky takeaway, because let's face it, who wants to cook on a weekend away?
Sleeping 10 people (plus two dogs), this holiday property is pretty impressive from the get go. As you enter you'll go through a walled garden with fishponds and cobbles and enter into the living space which has fully restored oak ceiling with the beams crisscrossing the full length of the barn. It's a pretty impressive space to spend time and have fun with your nearest and dearest.

To prepare your banquet, there's a kitchen featuring a large range, central island, dishwasher and all the crockery and cutlery you would need to entertain everyone - and if you don't really want to be preparing such a big feast then caterers are available. Phew.
Once you've dined around the tree trunk banqueting table, which is surrounded by chairs of different styles, shapes and sizes, you can cwtch up on the large sofas with Welsh blankets in front of the woodburner in the cosy living space. Upstairs isn't too shabby, either, with five individually designed bedrooms. There are also four bathrooms at the property.
If you did actually want to leave the medieval barn (we're not sure why), then Hay-on-Wye is a mile or so away and you can hire bikes, canoes, even Vespas to explore the area. It's a haven for walkers, too, being set a stone's throw from the Black Mountains.
And, of course, you can also spend many hours immersed in all of the bookshops that are dotted around The Town of Books, which hosts the world famous Hay Festival every year. You can find out more about the 2022 line-up here.
