"The media hounded her to her death" - Paul Burrell tells GMB hosts how Diana's death still impacts Prince Harry

Princess Diana's former butler has revealed his thoughts into what life's been like for Harry and Meghan, during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

The ex-butler and royal commentator said on the show how Harry feels that 'the media hounded Diana to her death' and claims the Prince's decisions are still impacted by his mother's death.

It comes after ITV aired an emotional documentary on Sunday night, which covered Harry and Meghan's recent time in Africa.

Titled 'Harry and Meghan: An African Journey', the documentary explored the private struggles the duo have been enduring whilst being in the royal lime light.

In light of the documentary, Paul Burrell told GMB hosts: “When you said about Harry losing his mother at such an early age that had such an impact on him.

“I saw him at that time, I knew him, he was devastated and to walk behind his mother’s coffin in front of the world was just dreadful.

“And that's had an amazing impact on him."

Diana tragically died in a car crash in Paris while being chased by paparazzi in 1997.

He added: "He does feel that the media hounded her to her death, I was with her at that time.”

During the ITV documentary, Harry revealed that he fears for his wife Meghan.

He said: “My mum clearly taught me a certain set of values of which I will always try and uphold despite the role and the job that sometimes that entails, if you know what I mean.

"But I think, I will always protect my family and now I have a family to protect.

"So everything that she went through and what happened to her is incredibly raw every single day. And that’s not me being paranoid that's just me not wanting a repeat of the past.

"And if anybody else knew what I knew, be it a father, be it a husband, be it anyone, you’d probably be doing exactly what I’m doing as well."
