The McDonald's receipt message that left a dad and daughter in shock

A father and daughter were left shocked by a handwritten message on a receipt allegedly given to them by staff at McDonald's.

Pictures of the receipt have gone viral on Facebook after they were shared by teenager Emily Timmins.

Emily and her dad, from Liverpool, were using a drive-thru at the restaurant at the time, but they were later asked to park up and come inside to collect their order as it was so busy.

The 18-year-old told the  Liverpool Echo  how the receipt they were then handed led to her and her father, Vinny, 49, "crying" with laughter.

"They normally write your registration number on your receipt so they know which car to go to," she said.

According to the teen, this time the "sheepish" staff asked them if they wanted their receipt.

They said they did, but they didn't find the registration number scribbled on the receipt.

Instead there was a message that simply read: "Silver (bald)."

"My dad looked at the receipt and laughed," Emily said.

"Then he looked up and said 'you cheeky bugger.'

"And the man just said 'they don't make my life easy do they.'"

Emily said her dad "couldn't stop laughing" about what happened afterwards.

She said: "I was crying laughing and he couldn't stop laughing either."

After all the laughter, told her Facebook friends what happened by writing a status and attaching a picture of the receipt and her and her dad together.

Hundreds of likes then came rolling in.

Emily said: "People have been recognising him since it happened.

"He went to an Everton match and the man next to him said his daughter recognised us both off Facebook.

"We still can't stop laughing now."
