Earlier this week, the Twitter and Reddit portions of Lions fandom took the ball and ran with the possibility that Twitter account EddyPLionsFan was actually a burner account for freshly fired head coach Matt Patricia. The account vehemently defended Patricia and had some easy-to-follow breadcrumbs trailing to an identity that some could really think was the ex-coach.
It was not Patricia. The man behind the account, a Rams fan from Utah named Dylan Cardwell, stepped forward and debunked the fake news. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press interviewed Cardwell and got the details behind the story of how a well-conceived prank blew up far beyond what Cardwell expected.
So no, the alleged burner account from Matt Patricia was not real.
