The Matrix 4 will “change the industry again”, according to one of its stars.
Jessica Henwick, whose character in the forthcoming sequel is yet to be announced, revealed that co-director Lana Wachowski is continuing to push filmmaking boundaries in the fourth instalment of the franchise.
“Lana is doing some really interesting things on a technical level in the same way that you know, she created a style back then,” Henwick told ComicBook.com.
She added: “I think she's going to change the industry again with this film. There's some camera rigs that I've never seen before that we're using."
The original trilogy has become known for its innovative camerawork and editing, particularly in the film’s ambitious slow-motion fight scenes.
Henwick shared her excitement for the film, stating: “There are definitely moments on set where Yahya [Abdul-Mateen II] and I look at each other [and have those] pinch me moments.”
The forthcoming sequel will see Henwick (Iron Fist and The Defenders) star alongside members of the original cast, including Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson and Daniel Bernhardt.
It was announced in January this year that Hugo Weaving will not be reprising his iconic role as Agent Smith due to scheduling conflicts.
The Matrix 4 was forced to pause filming in light of the coronavirus pandemic. The film’s release has been pushed to 2022.
